The Best Restaurants in Uzès: Our Local Favourites
We live just outside Uzès, so these aren’t restaurants we picked from a list. They’re places we actually eat, return to and recommend to guests staying at Le Loft de l’Uzège.
From lunch in the historic centre to long dinners in the countryside, these are some of our favourite restaurants in and around Uzès.
Le Barry — for a proper lunch in Uzès
Le Barry is one of the places we recommend most often for lunch in town.
Just outside the historic centre, it’s small, relaxed and centred around fresh, seasonal cooking. The menu changes regularly, which is part of the appeal: it feels like somewhere you can return to rather than somewhere you visit just once. It’s exactly the sort of restaurant we like — thoughtful food without too much fuss.
Best for: a relaxed lunch after exploring Uzès
Our tip: book ahead; it’s a small place.
Villa Curti — for somewhere with character
Villa Curti is one of the most charming places to eat in Uzès. Set in a former church, it has beautiful vaulted interiors and a shaded terrace that is particularly lovely in summer. The food is fresh and refined, with a focus on local, mostly organic produce, accompanied by a very good selection of natural wines.
It feels special without being overly formal, which makes it one of our favourites for a longer lunch or dinner in town.
Best for: lunch or dinner somewhere a little special
Our tip: ask for a table outside in summer.
La Famille — for the atmosphere of Place aux Herbes
If you want to eat right in the heart of Uzès, La Famille is an easy choice. It sits directly on Place aux Herbes, with tables beneath the arcades and all the movement of the square around you.
The menu leans French and Mediterranean, with dishes to share, local wines and a relaxed atmosphere. We like it when the setting matters just as much as what’s on the plate. It works particularly well for lunch or an early dinner when the centre of Uzès is still lively.
Best for: eating in the middle of town
Our tip: stay for another glass of wine and watch the square change as the day winds down.
Domaine de Panéry — for a long lunch outside Uzès
For something completely different, we like heading out of town to Domaine de Panéry.
Set among vineyards and olive trees, Panéry combines food, wine, olive oil and contemporary art. It’s one of those places where we wouldn’t plan anything immediately afterwards.
Come for lunch, then take some time to explore the domaine, visit the gallery or pick up a bottle of wine or locally produced olive oil. It’s more of an afternoon than simply a restaurant reservation — and that’s precisely why we like it.
Best for: a slow countryside lunch
Our tip: give yourself a few hours rather than rushing back to Uzès.
Le Tracteur — for dinner in the countryside
Le Tracteur is another place we often recommend when guests want to get out of town.
Located in the countryside near Argilliers, between Uzès and the Pont du Gard, it has a relaxed, slightly unconventional feel: an old agricultural building, a large shaded terrace, olive trees, seasonal food and occasional exhibitions or music.
It’s especially good after a day around the Gardon, Collias or the Pont du Gard. In summer, this is the kind of place where dinner can easily turn into a long evening outside.
Best for: a relaxed dinner away from town
Our tip: check what’s happening there during your stay — there is often more going on than dinner alone.
